Finance Kalon Attends Summit in Mumbai
DHARAMSHALA: Central Tibetan Administration’s Finance Kalon Tsering Dhondup participated in a two-day summit Sankalp Unconvention Summit in Mumbai from 17-18 April. The summit is one of Asia’s largest collaborative platforms to bring together social enterprises, impact investors, policy makers, academicians, and other market makers. It is a community of 400 social enterprises and 400 investors. The finance department joined the summit to gain knowledge and exposure on entrepreneurship development opportunities and build network with prospective investors to help launch in the near future Tibetan Entrepreneurship Development (TED) project to make Tibetan businesses more competitive, sustainable and impact oriented.
It seeks opportunity to meet and build relationships with intellecap team who will develop business plan for TED, meet friends and impact investors Legatum and Omidyar network headquartered in Dubai and US respectively that have shown keen interests in TED. SARD’s TED senior advisor T. Keyzom Ngodup, a UN consultant and co-founder of Developyst based in Pakistan joined the summit. The Empowering Tibetan Businesses initiative funded by USAID also sent two budding Tibetan entrepreneurs, Ms Kelsang Tsering from Kollegal and Tenzin Rabten from Bir settlements. Kalsang Phuntsok and Tenzin Wangyal from TechnoServe showcased Tibetan entrepreneurship at the summit. Key sessions at the summit include plenary session seeking answers to role of social enterprise, their approaches to improving lives of people in the bottom of pyramid. Regional spotlights that include spotlights in Africa and South Asia and India in particular highlighting recent developments that are creating hub for entrepreneurship.
